About Me

I am a Visiting Professor and Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow with the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Spain. I received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering (with distinction) and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering both from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. From June 2010 until May 2012 I was a Marie Curie Intra-European Research Fellow with the University of Cambridge, UK. I joined the Signal Processing Group of UC3M in June 2012.

I am a Senior Member of the IEEE. I was serving as Vice Chair of the Spain Chapter of the IEEE Information Theory Society in 2013-2016.

Research Interests

My research interests are in the area of digital communications and information theory. Currently, I work on the following problems:

  • fading channels

  • information theory at finite blocklength

  • quantization and sampling

  • rate-distortion theory
